Tropical Fish

Tropical fish need to be kept in a tropical tank. No cold water fish can live in these conditions. Before you buy any tropical fish, it is important to do your research as they can grow rapidly to a far bigger size than expected.

Setting Up A Fish Tank

To set up your first tropical fish tank, you will need:

  • A fish tank with a light unit
  • Filter
  • Thermometer
  • Heater
  • Air pump
  • Gravel
  • Plants (real or fake)
  • Décor (rocks, wood and bridges etc)
  • Net
  • Algae scrapper
  • Water conditioner
  • Fish Food
  • Vacuum

Maintenance Routine

On a daily basis, you will need to: feed the fish 2-3 times a day, check the temperature, check the filter is working correctly and make sure the fish appear healthy. Approximately every two weeks, you will need to perform a partial water change. This will dilute the soiled water and ensure your fish stay healthy. Around every two months, you completely clean your tank, changing all the water. Remember not to use any soaps or disinfectants, as these will harm your fish.
